Now, this is a topic that I could probably write about for hours, but I’ll stick to a few of my favorite anecdotes for the sake of this post. Have you ever had a job where you were constantly given the most insane tasks & requests? I used to be employed for an event planning company and my job description could basically be summed up by the following: “Do whatever it takes to make the event a success & keep the VIPs happy.”
The only problem with that directive is that many, if not all, of the clients were completely insane. For example, some of my close friends were told to do the following:
- Peel the “Chiquita” stickers off the bananas on the breakfast buffet. (They look sloppy)
- Buy oral herpes medication for a VIP’s wife
- Follow incredibly precise stapling instructions (Bet you didn’t know that there could be rules on how to staple paper, did ya?)
Yes, the life of an event planner. Those were the good ole days.
