Over the last year, I’ve become slowly enamored with the idea of digital scrapbooking and photo enhancement through Photoshop. I really had no idea that programs like Photoshop could make such dramatic changes to a photo. And I certainly didn’t realize how many possibilities there were in the arena of digital scrapbooking.
I guess my journey into this uncharted territory all started when I discovered Blurb books. As a gift, I made small 7x7 wedding albums for my mother and grandmother (and my in-laws as well). The process was so simple, even if the layout design was time consuming. (Hey, I had 2,400 images to work with!). Everyone loved their gifts, and I decided to make one large book for my husband and I.
Even though the design program used for Blurb books has a large variety of layouts, it’s still pretty basic. The inability to nudge a photo really started to grate on me after a while.
That’s when a friend suggested that I take a digital scrapbooking class from Jessica Sprague. And, as Jessica would say, my life has completely changed! The lessons are intense, but I have learned so much, and had so much fun in the process.
Here is one of my sample layouts from the class:

Now, I’m definitely a novice, and I’m certainly not going to be posting photography lessons like Pioneer Woman any time soon, but I really have enjoyed learning a little bit more about this hobby of mine. Oh, and I will definitely be taking the “Now We’re Rockin’ With Photoshop” class when the next session is offered.
Maybe I’ll even be able to convince my husband that we need a Nikon D50. A girl can dream, right?
